Do you ever have one of those days were you just don't want to go to work? As soon as the alarm clock goes off you start coming up with reason's why you should take the day off. Just call in sick, you tell yourself. I am having one of those days. I am at work but I sure don't want to be. Not for any other reason except for my bed wanted me to stay in it this morning.

I went to a funeral for a family friend last night. At the service the preacher gave an example of how God always loves us. He said that he had a $20 bill. He knew that everyone would want the $20. Then he took the bill and crumpled it up and stomped it on the floor. Then he said who would want this dirty bill? EVERYONE! It is still $20. It is still valuable and can still be used. That is how God looks at us. No matter how damaged an used we are he still wants us. We are still valuable to him.
I thought this was pretty cool. Especially since the funeral was for someone who had a pretty tough life.

So I am getting this CD player for FREE!! Pretty much daily I get coupons from Office Depot at the church. Mostly they are junk or they are discounts on a purchase. Today in the mail was a coupon to get this Coby CD Player for free if you made a purchase of $75 or more. I just happens that this morning I made an $81 purchase for the church. My reward? This baby!! I am pretty excited. It will arrive tomorrow and replace the old junky one that I have at home. I LOVE free stuff!!

Note to self...
When making oatmeal cookies make sure you have enough oatmeal before mixing ALL the ingredients! If you don't have enough and try to make the cookies anyway they will turn out like oatmeal pancakes.

This weekend was pretty good! I did some babysitting and made some extra $$. I also went garage sailing. The first one was VERY dissapointing. The only thing I ended up with were some books for my nephew. I decided to stop at one more on my way home and got the find of the century! I will hopefully be able to post pictures later in the week. For now my description will have to do. They are wooden framed chairs that sit pretty low to the ground. They have leather/vynil seats that are a yellow color. Think very 1973 furniture! I am SO pumped about them. They were only $5 each! All I need to do is strip the wooden frame and put a fresh coat of varnish on it. Good times!!

I have always been one of those people who follows the rules. If you tell me to do something I will do it. If there are guidelines then I will follow them. I only got 1 detention in ALL of highschool and it was for wearing pj pants to school. I only did it because my friends were all doing it. This said sometimes I want to rebel against the rules. Not because I don't agree but because others are breaking them and getting away with it. It annoys me to no end that someone can break the rules every day and get away with it. Why even have rules? It makes me want to do what they are doing just to see what would happen. Why don't I? Because I am a rules follower. I would feel horrible guilty and probably somehow repent for my actions. Sometimes it really bothers me that I am such a goody two shoes!!

My best friend Stacy got married this weekend. The ceremony took place on a cruise ship! It was a pretty cool wedding. We all arrived at 10:30 a.m. and got checked in. Once checked in we were allowed to board and explore the ship. My other best friend Amanda and I grabbed a drink and then walked around the ship. I have to say that it was pretty amazing. I now have the itch to go on a cruise. I don't think I would want to do a 7 day cruise or anything like that but a nice 3 0r 4 day one with my friends would be a good time. This picture is of me, Stacy, and Amanda at the reception.

While moving my roommates car the other morning I noticed that she had some really good music playing on her radio. I looked to find that the station was 91.5 FM. On my way to work that same day I decided to tune in. It turned out to be a really great local radio station. They are based out of Rollins College in Winter Park. If you like emo, punk or eclectic types of music then give them a listen!!

So I am totally BUSTED! My boss Mark has a pretty big fear of snakes. Well last week I went out to the mail box and there was a dead one on the side walk. I decided it would be funny to move it to the drivers side of his car and watch as the drama unfolded. I went into the kitchen and got some tongs and then proceeded to move the snake over next to his car. The thought of how much this would freak him out made me laugh for the rest of the day. Sadly at 5:00 p.m. he was still here. I had to leave and didn't get to see what happened. This all took place last week. So today the pastoral staff comes out of a meeting. I hear Mark ask my co-worker Kim if she knew anything about the snake. She said no. Someone then proceeded to mention that they knew it was me. Mark came around to my office and asked me if I did it. I of course not lie. I told him that it was me. He said that when he found it he thought it was alive. He spent several minutes throwing rocks at it before deciding it was dead. LOL!!! So, so funny!! He did tell me that he is going to get me back. Ugh! Payback is a bummer...

I have finished 2 of the movies off of my AFI's top 100 most passionate films list. Casablanca was first and it was good. I would not call it my most favorite ever by any means but it was a great flick and had awesome romantic qualities. Now for Dr. Zhivago. OH MY GOSH I had no idea how long that movie was. I watched it in 2 parts because it is over 3 hours long. It is an equally romantic film and you can get lost in the story but the length kind of throws a wrench in it. My next movie on the list is West Side Story. I am looking forward to that one. I have heard a lot of great things about it.

ABC's new drama series centers on a young, acclaimed novelist/screenwriter Nick Garret (played by "One Tree Hill" star Bryan Greenberg). Nick's best-selling novel is based on his hometown friends. He is at a crossroads in his life when he returns to his hometown to teach at the local university, and faces the family and friends he left behind. To the literary world he is a genius, but to his hometown he is a coward who betrayed their trust and their secrets. Now that he found a new job, Nick will have to deal with the past and try to move on with his life. - from TV.com
I didn't get to watch all of this show but caught about 3/4 of it. I have to say that it definitely peeked my interests. If for the sheer fact that I think that Bryan Greenburg is HOT! He and and one of my other favorite One Tree Hill characters "Mouth" both make appearances on the show. Good stuff!! Now that I have dvr I don't have to stay up late to watch it. I can just record it and watch whenever I want! Gotta love it!

Have I mentioned that I dislike birds? I have an unhealthy fear of them. They are very unpredictable. So knowing this here is my story of the morning...
I was sitting in the drive thru at Dunkin Doughnuts trying to get some coffee. Because I am in the drive thru I had my window rolled down so as to place my order. I am sitting there for a minute when I realize that there is a closed sign placed on the menu board. I am busy trying to figure out if this means that Baskin Robbins or Dunkin Doughnuts is closed when I hear a flutter of wings. I face forward and see a bird heading straight for my car. I panic and almost scream. It flew right above my head on the top of the car. I can hear it walking around up there. I closed my window and it seemed to take forever. I was paralyzed in side my car. Somehow afraid that the bird could get through the roof and into the car with me. Finally it fluttered away and I drove around to realize that the Dunkin Doughnuts was closed. So no coffee and a bird almost flew into my car. It was a traumatic morning!!

Ok so last night was disappointing from a TV standpoint. Ugly Betty and Greys Anatomy were both re-runs. Thankfully I stopped at Barnes & Noble on my way home and picked up "In An Instant" by Bob & Lee Woodruff. I am thoroughly enjoying this book. It is written from both of their perspectives in sort of a journal style. They are both excellent writers. Lee writes from the emotional, love story side and Bob writes from the cold, hard, factual and journalist side. I love that you get a bit of both. I am about 50 pages into it and can already tell it is going to be excellent. I'll let you know once I finish it. Probably this weekend...

My roomie and I went to dinner at Crispers last night in WPV and then to see Music & Lyrics. Betsy and I both had heard some bad reviews about the flick but chose to see it anyway. I am SO glad we did. I thought it was good. It was funny, sweet and made me laugh. It won't be winning any Academy Awards but it was well worth my $7.50. Yeah we paid the student rate. The ticket guy thought we were cute or something. Oh yeah and Hugh Grant sings and dances in the movie. It doesn't get much better than that and he actually has a nice voice. Now his dance moves leave something to be desired.

My favorite morning news show is Good Morning America. Just over a year ago one of my favorite reporters was injured in the feild. Bob Woodruff was reporting in Iraq and he and his crew were struck by a road side bomb. I have been following the story and anxiously awaitning the day that Bob would return. Yesterday was his first day back on GMA. They featured the story of his triumph over a traumatic brain injury. He was then on Oprah in the afternoon and had a presentation called "To Iraq and Back" on primetime. I watched all 3! I have to say that the story in one of loss, love and family. He and his wife Lee have written a book together. I have not read it but from what I heard yesterday about the story I strongly reccomend it! I will be picking up my copy from Barnes & Noble soon.

Peter Pan Peanut Butter and Great Value Peanut Butter Products Beginning with Product Code 2111 Recalled for Possible Salmonella Contamination
OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2007--ConAgra Foods today announced that it has taken the precautionary measure of voluntarily recalling all varieties of Peter Pan Peanut Butter and Great Value Peanut Butter beginning with product code 2111 imprinted on the lid of both brands. ConAgra Foods is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate a statistical report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that these products may be linked to the foodborne illness salmonella.
While this affects Great Value Peanut Butter beginning with product code 2111, there are other manufacturers of Great Value Peanut Butter that are not affected by this recall.
"Although none of our extensive product tests have indicated the presence of salmonella, we are taking this precautionary measure because consumer health and safety is our top priority," said Chris Kircher, spokesperson for ConAgra Foods. "We are working closely with the FDA to better understand its concerns, and we will take whatever additional measures are needed to ensure the safety, quality and wholesomeness of our products."
If consumers have this product, they should discard it, but save the product lid. For a full refund, consumers must return the Peter Pan Peanut Butter or Great Value Peanut Butter product lid along with their name and mailing address to ConAgra Foods, P.O. Box 3768, Omaha, NE 68103.
Consumers with questions or concerns about the recall can call the 24-hour toll-free hotline at 866-344-6970. For more information about salmonella, visit www.ific.org.
Yeah we had 2 jars of this junk in our house. I am hoping and praying that I don't have salmonella.

So I just learned of a website where you can register your cell or blackberry type device to recieve weather alerts. All you have to do is go to ocalert.net and register. They will send you text messages when there is bad weather in your area. I think this is great for those of us who don't have a weather radio. So check it out. It may come in handy this evening with the crazy weather we are supposed to be having.

I decided the other day while at the grocery store with Allison, my sister, that I would pick up some of these Weigh Watchers lemon cakes to have for snack at work. I just tried my first one. Let me just say that it was pretty dissapointing. The cakes are about the size of one Twinkie and the icing is not soft. I guess this is what you get for 2.5 fat grams. About a month ago I received a coupon for a buy 1 get 1 free medium Fruit & Yogurt shake at Stake 'n Shake. Karin and I decided that after all of our hard work at line dancing class last night that we deserved a reward. So we hit up the drive thru. I ordered banana and she ordered raspberry. We precede to head back to my place. We get about a mile down the road and about 3 sips into our drinks and look at each other. Karin declares "this is disgusting!". I heartily agree!! I don't know if the yogurt had gone bad or it was just the taste of the drink but it was NOT good.
Note to self... Don't mess with perfection!! Regular hand dipped milk shakes from Steak n' Shake are the goods!!

Watching Grey's Anatomy the other night I heard the following interaction between 2 of the actors...
George: I don't know how to exist in a world where my father doesn't.
Christina: Yeah that never really changes.
This interaction became very real to me as I attended a funeral for my great aunt Dot. My cousin's, aunt's and uncle's were all talking about how they had been crying so much and they didn't know if they could cry any more. They longed for a time when they would feel better even though she is gone. I wanted to tell them that a world without someone you love never gets any easier. We do have the comfort as Christians knowing that she is with Jesus and not in pain anymore but we are still here on earth. Living with human hearts that have pain and longing. I lost both of my maternal grandparents just over 2 years ago. I still miss them. It does not get easier. It changes. I don't cry all the time but I do still cry. It can be the smallest thing like a tuna sandwich made like Gramma Jane made it that makes me fall apart. It brings me right back to the day she died and the pain is so real again. Then I am ok for a while. The strange thing is that I don't wish that I didn't have the pain. I am thankful for it. I am glad I miss them. I am glad that I have such strong memories. I struggle to exist in a world where they don't but life goes on.

So I am having office chair issues. For about 3 weeks it has not been working properly. It tilts to one side. Now, as of today, it just randomly slides the height setting down all the way until I feel like I am sitting on the floor. When this happens I look like a midget and I can barely see over my desk. I have ordered a new one and it comes tomorrow but until then I get to play the ride the office chair game. UGH!!

Story of customer service at it's greatest...
Today is the last day of wireless coverage for all the pastoral staff at UPC. Tanya has been on the phone with Cingular Wireless trying to get plans canceled and other things changed. The woman she was talking with told her that she could not cancel plans because the account is held by Mark Bates. So Tanya told her to call Mark on his cellphone (account held with Cingular) and get approval. About 3 minutes pass by...
My phone rings... "Hello University Presbyterian this is Lindsey"
Cingular rep - "Mark Bates please"
Me - "Ummm..he is not in the office today can I help you?"
Cingular rep- "Well this is ____ from Cingular and I am trying to verify some account information with him"
Me - "I just heard my co-worker tell you to call Mark on his cell phone did you try that?"
Cingular rep - "No I didn't. Can I get that #?"
Me - "Ummm...I am pretty sure you should have it since you are the wireless provider"
Cingular rep - "You think so?" (and totally serious when she said this)
Me - "Yeah I am sure!"
a few seconds go by...
Cingular rep - "Oh yeah I do have it. I will call him right now. Thanks!"
I have to say that customer service ain't what it used to be! :-)

Ok so I went to see the movie The Holiday the other night with my good friend Karin. It is totally GREAT movie. While watcing I realized that I am totally Iris. Kate Winslet playes this character named Iris who is in love with this guy who says he wants her while it is convenient for him. It was amazing to see someone else go through the same issues I have. It was so eye opening because until I came to the realization that I do the same thing I was mad at her for letting herself get walked all over. Then it hit me like a lightening bolt! I do the same thing. I find someone I am attracted to. Then I do everything possible to make them want to be with me. How this logic works in my mind I am not sure. I love when Iris suddenly realizes how Jasper is treating her and he that he will never change. I wanted to yell GO GIRL! :-)
If you have not seen this movie... DO! It is really cute!

Pretty much my favorite holiday treat is something called Kringle. It is a Danish pastry. It used to be something that my Great Grandma Kemnintz would order and mail to us. Now that she is gone we order it every year from http://www.ohdanishbakery.com/ and eat it Christmas morning before we open presents. If you have never tried it I higly reccomend it. Trust me people this blows Panera pastry out of the water! I think a big part of it is the memories for me but still it is good eats. ENJOY!

Can I just say how annoyed and frustrated I am with the United States Post Office? UGH! So this is what happened. I went on Monday of last week to check our mail. In the box was a notice that our box got to full. Because it has gotten to full they had taken our mail back to the post office. Now mind you it had only been 4 days since I had checked it. Last week was the week from hell at work so I just couldn't go. I called yesterday and asked what I needed to do to get our mail. The lady told me just come to the post office in Oviedo with my drivers license. So today I take off work, drive over there, and try to pick up my mail. The lady who comes out from behind the blue door precedes to tell me that I can't pick up my mail. It is at another location and I have to come back! What the @$%#! So now I have to take more time off work this afternoon to go back to the post office in DOWN TOWN OVIEDO to get my freaking mail! UGH!! Annoyed = me!

What constitutes a fun Thursday night in my book? Well let me just tell you...
-babysitting for 2 hours and getting paid for 3
-a peppermint mocha frapachino from Starbucks
-good conversation with a good friend (thanks Karin)
-home, pj's, bed
I was actually dreading last night and it turned out SO fun!
