This past week my totally cute pair of glasses from Target broke. I was so bummed! Well this situation caused me to go back to the eye doctor and get an exam so that I could get glasses and contacts. While telling my parents about what I was going to do they mentioned that I should look in the Sunday paper for coupons to optical stores. I did and I found a great one! I got 2 complete pairs of glasses, lenses and frames, for $69! Can you believe that? I even think they are pretty cute! So if you are in need of glasses this is totally the place to go. I have not seen the coupon online but they do have one for 2 for $99. I think that is still a GREAT deal.

I tried to be healthy for lunch and in stead of my regular Chick-fil-a I went to Planet Smoothie. I got something called Billy Bob Banana. It has some of those "protien blasts" in it. All I have to say is OH WELL for trying to be healthy... I feel all sick to my stomach after drinking 1/4 of the drink that cost me $5.50. Now i'm eating saltine crackers to and trying not to throw up.
Tomorrow it is back to Chick-fil-a!

In the continuing saga of my back issues I got the results from my MRI today. It seems that I have a bulging disc in my lower back. What is a a bulging disc you may ask? Well here is what I found out from wisegeek.com...
A bulging disk is a condition related to the spine, usually the lumbar, or lowerl back that occurs when a disk bulges through a crevice in the spine. Disks are the soft, gelatinous material that cushions the vertebrae of the spine. A bulging disk occurs when the disk shifts out of its normal radius and most often occurs simply as a result of age.
Notice the last sentence. Ok people...i'm only 28! GEEZZZ!!! So anyways the doctor is sending me for physical therapy. I start that on Monday morning at 7:00 a.m. Hopefully this will get things on the road to recovery.

How I feel since I have been taking pain meds and going to work.

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

I discovered a great new store yesterday. It's called Movie Stop and it is in the Waterford Town Center. Basically the cool part about it is you can take your old dvd's and trade them in. When you do you can get credit to the store or cash. Getting the credit is a better value. I traded in Season 4 of Dawson's Creek and Season 1 of One Tree Hill. For that I got $24 in credit. I then purchased Season 1 of Bones. SO FUN! They have all kinds of great used dvd's for a really good price. So if you have some movies around that you don't watch anymore take them to Movie Stop and trade it for something you want!

So last Tuesday I was sitting at my desk when I had a sharp pain in my lower back. After 30 minutes the pain had not subsided...it had actually gotten worse. So I told my co-worker I thought I needed to go to the doctor. So I called my doctor. Unfortunately, they were closed for lunch so I decided to go the Centra Care walk-in clinic. After waiting for 2 hours I saw the doctor. By this point I was in a good amount of pain. He came in, talked to me for 2 minutes, diagnosed me with an injured sciatic, wrote a prescription and then left. I didn't really think much of it because I was hurting so much. All I wanted was pain meds to get some relief. So I headed to the Walgreens next door to get my meds. The lady in the drive-thru told me it would be a 45 minute wait. I was pretty much in tears at this point from the pain. So I headed to my parents. My Mom had their jet tub ready and waiting for me. When my meds were ready she went and got them for me.

It has been almost a week since I went to the doctor. I'm still having pain problems. So I went to my regular doctor today. She confirmed for me that I have injured my sciatic. If it's not better by Thursday i'll have to get physical therapy.

Boy do I feel old!

Christian the Lion - the full story (in HQ)

Check out this beautiful reunion story!

So while walking the dogs, Boots & Harley, the other day I felt something crawl across my toe. For some reason I did not freak out. I looked town to see a little mole crawling back into the ground. Ya.. A MOLE! I have seen pictures of them but never experienced the real, live thing. It was kinda cute and funny. The day before I had a lizard at my desk. I must be becoming Dr. Doolittle or something!

How does a girl know if she has "big feet"?...

Clue # 1:
Trading her shoes to a lady from Craigslist who is looking for them to give to some drag queens.

TRUE STORY!

Ad:

Wanted: large size womens shoes in 11 0r 12 wide. Would like to trade for something that you can use call to see what I have or what you want or email me.

So I contacted the lady and told her I had some of those size shoes. She told me that she could trade me some jewlery for my shoes. So we met. I got some cute earrings and she took my shoes for the queens!

At least I got some cute jewlery out of the deal!

This new little man has stolen my heart. His name is Harley and he belongs to my new roommate Lynzie. It is so fun. I get to enjoy all the perks of having a puppy without any of the responsibility. Yesterday I was home with a migraine and he slept in my lap all day. How can you resist that cute face? Ask Cindy and Kelli... you can't!

Having Lynzie is a huge blessing! It was so nice to find a roommate quickly this time. She is awesome and we get along really well.

Ok, ok!! I have been harrased into blogging. LOL!

What do I have on my mind my faithful reader(s) ask... I feel like that is a loaded question. I have a lot on my mind for some reason. I think this is due to the fact that since December I feel like I have been running a marathon. There has been so much that has happened in my life. Since December my Dad has been in and out of the hospital twice, my uncle was in the hospital for 28 days, my nephew Gavin was born, I had a new roomie move in and then 3 months later move out, my Mom's step-dad passed away, I got a new dog, and and just last week I had another new roomie move in.

So ya...this is all going on above and beyond my regular, day to day, life with work and stuff. I am so thankful for my friends and family that have been there for me when I have been really stressed. I don't know what I would do without them.

So here I am...back to the blogging world with not to much to say. I will, however, leave you with a picture of my two adorable nephews. Feel free to be jealous of how blessed I am to have them in my life!

Maria Sue Chunxi Chapman

Many of you have already heard about the loss that Stephen Curtis Chapman's family experienced the day before yesterday. It is unimaginable the grief this family has to be going through. I am so relieved to know that they are surrounded by a very loving church family. My uncle is an elder at Christ Community. He sent me the obituary this morning. I know that there has been a huge outpooring of love from the Christian community to this family. One of the very tangible things we can do is honoring their request of donations made, in lieu of flowers, to Shaohannah's Hope, Maria's Miracle Fund, P.O. Box 647, Franklin, TN shaohannahshope.org or stevencurtischapman.com.

The illusive white tank top...

Ok so I went to run errands the other night. One of my main objectives was to get a new white tank top. Let's just say that the ones I had previously were well loved. I went to 4 different stores in the errands I had to do. In none of them did I find such a tank top. 3 out of the 4 stores didn't even have them. Now I realize that i'm a plus sized gal and so many stores don't cary every item that a woman my size might need. But come on! A white tank top? I mean we are talking basic stuff here! So finally I went to one last store yesterday. Thankfully they had some in stock! I purchased on at the store and then ordered another online today. I can't believe that what seemed like such a simle errand turned into a huge ordeal!

I am now the proud owner of a Chiweenie! What is a Chiweenie you may ask? Well it is a Chihuahua and Dachsund mix. Her name is Sasha and she is totally adorable. As you can see by the pic. Her owner recenly passed away and so I inherited her. She fits right in with Mr. Boots and I.

As a child I loved the Janette Oke books. I just recenly discovered that Hallmark has a series of these movies that they show. They are really good. On Friday I took a night just for me. I needed one just to relax and hang. Anyways I watched two of the movies from the series. They were so good. Both of them I have never seen before. I would love to own them so that I could watch them any time I want and not have to wait for them to come on the Hallmark channel.

Do you ever have a day when you are feeling stress but you shouldn't because those around you have "real stress"? I am having one of those moments. I'm stressed. Not for any real reason but that I feel it. Yet I don't feel like I can say anything about it to those closest to me because they are going through "real stress". Like life altering stress. So...I stay bottled up. Probably not so good but I do...

You Are An Intro-Extrovert!

Sometimes you're social - sometimes you're shy

You've got a bit of an Introvert / Extrovert split going on

You enjoy all sorts of situations. Parties, small groups, and alone time.

Too much of one, and you'll long for the other. You need variety!

Chances are, you've got both serious and fun friends - and they don't get along.

Jason Castro-

I fell in love with Jason Castro last night. His voice is enchanting and I could listen to him sing this song all day long. Jason...will you marry me?

Tuesday, April 08, 2008

My new blog title is from a song by Nickel Creek. They are one of my favorite bands and this is one of my all time favorite songs...

When You Come Back Down

You got to leave me now, you got to go alone
You got to chase a dream, one that's all your own
Before it slips away
When you're flyin' high, take my heart along
I'll be the harmony to every lonely song
That you learn to play

When you're soarin' through the air
I'll be your solid ground
Take every chance you dare
I'll still be there
When you come back down
When you come back down

I'll keep lookin' up, awaitin' your return
My greatest fear will be that you will crash and burn
And I won't feel your fire
I'll be the other hand that always holds the line
Connectin' in between your sweet heart and mine
I'm strung out on that wire

And I'll be on the other end, To hear you when you call
Angel, you were born to fly, If you get too high
I'll catch you when you fall
I'll catch you when you fall

Your memory's the sunshine every new day brings
I know the sky is calling
Angel, let me help you with your wings

When you're soarin' through the air
I'll be your solid ground
Take every chance you dare

I'll still be there
When you come back down
Take every chance you dare,
I'll still be there
When you come back down
When you come back down

A friend gave me this song on a mixed cd when I left for 6 weeks to Italy. I sat on the plane reading his letter and listening to this song. Tears streamed down my face as a I prepared to leave my friends and family for the first time.

Yes i'm weird...

I love pockets. I got a new skirt last night and was most excited about the fact that it has pockets. The dress I bought for Jr/Sr had pockets and that is one of the reason's I bought it.

I don't like birds. They are very unpredictable creatures.

I don't like to eat things that are white and jiggly. Such things as cottage cheese, vanilla pudding, or cream cheese.

I'm usually early wherever I go. It's a sickness...

I don't like to be talked to while i'm in the bathroom. Fellow church members should take note of this!

I have a queen size bed but only sleep on the right side.

Being fashionably coordinated is a must. Black shoes/black purse sorta thing.

So those are some of the weird things about me. Notice I said SOME. Definitely not all of them. Feel free to share yours!

I had to run some errands on my lunch today. On my way back I was driving on Alafaya and came to the light at Colonial. I saw a woman I have seen many times before standing on the median. She always has the same sign: "Will Work for Food". A while ago someone gave me the great idea of carrying Nutra Grain bars in my car for just such an occasion. This way you don't have to feel guilty about enabeling some habit and can show a Christ like attititude by helping a person in need. Recently we were talking about helping the needy in my LIFE Group. Someone mentioned that hey had heard of purchasing Burger King Coupons with the same idea in mind of helping but not enabeling.
I know I don't have much but I do have more than these people. It is amazing how much it blesses me when I am able to help them. I wanted to share this story to encourage you. We have a very large homeless community here in Central Florida. It just takes a few moments to help someone like them out.

David Archuleta- Imagine (American Idol) High Quality

I could listen to this kid sing all day! He is just amazing. Just turned 17 and already has this powerful voice!

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

I got this forwarded to me in an email and it was too good not not to share!

This is an actual letter from an Austin woman sent to American company Proctor and Gamble regarding their feminine products. She
really gets rolling after the first paragraph. It's PC Magazine's 2007
editors' choice for best webmail-award-winning letter.
Dear Mr. Thatcher,

I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20
years and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the
LeakGuard Core or Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or
salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down
the beach in tight, white shorts. But my favorite feature has to be your
revolutionary Flexi-Wings. Kudos on being the only company smart
enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I
can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a
little F-16 in my pants.

Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? Ever
suffered from the curse'? I'm guessing you haven't. Well, my time of the month
is starting right now. As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces
violently surging through my body. Just a few minutes from now,
my body will adjust and I'll be transformed into what my husband likes
to call 'an inbred hillbilly with knife skills.' Isn't the human body
amazing? As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you've no
doubt seen quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your
customers monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'. Therefore, you must know about
the bloating, puffiness and cramping we endure, and about our
intense mood swings, crying, jags, and out-of-control behavior. You surely
realize it's a tough time for most women. In fact, only last week, my
friend Jennifer fought the violent urge to shove her boyfriend's
testicles into a George Foreman Grill just because he told her he thought
Grey's Anatomy was written by a bunch of drunken chimps; Crazy!

The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America
is just crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants... Which brings
me to the reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of
cramping so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus,
I oopened an Always maxi-pad, and there, printed on the adhesive
backing, were these words: 'Have a Happy Period.'

Are you ****ing kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of
your tiny middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling,
laughing happiness is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything
mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did it, James? FYI,
unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak girl, there will never
be anything 'happy' about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on
Motrin And Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don't
march down to the local Walgreen's armed with a hunting riflle and a sketchy
plan to end your life in a blaze of glory.

For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you just have
to slap a moronic message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more
sense to say something that's actually pertinent, like 'Put down the Hammer or
Vehicular Manslaughter is Wrong', or are you just picking on us?
Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective
immediately, there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I
have chosen to take my maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly
miss your Flex-Wings,I will not for one minute miss your brand of
condescending bull***t.

And that's a promise I will keep. Always.
Best,
Wendi Aarons
Austin , TX

I have secretly been converted to American Idol. My roomie is a fan and so I have been watching with her in efforts to get to know her better. I'll admit the show sucks you in. My favorite right now is this 17 year old David. He is AMAZING!

You Communicate Like a Woman

You empathize, talk things out, and express your emotions freely.
You're a good listener, and you're non-judgmental with your advice.
Communication is how you connect with people.
You're always up for a long talk, no matter how difficult the subject matter is.

Friday, February 01, 2008

I was talking with my Mom the other day about relationships. How it is intesting to see the ebb and flow of them. Over the past few years I have had a lot of change in the friendship area. I have learned to deal with it but it doesn't mean that I don't mourn the loss of how things were. Not that I have had any friendships end badly or anything. There has just been change. For example...3 years ago I was inseperable with 2 girls. We did everything together. Then one of them moved. Still the one that lived here and I stayed close and did everything together. Then she got married and moved about an hour away. These 2 girls were my closest friends at the time and now I hardly ever see them or talk to them. Does this make me sad? Yes. Am I angry about it? No. It is just how things work. I love both of them dearly but realize that things change. I can't expect things to always stay the same. I still talk to them occasionally and hope that they will always be a part of my life.

It is interesting to me though how people can come in and out of your life at different times. I am thankful I have been blessed with so many friends and hope to continue to develop relationships with the new ones in my life.

You Act Like You Are 28 Years Old

You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel like an adult, and you're optimistic about life.
You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

You're still figuring out your place in the world and how you want your life to shape up.
The world is full of possibilities, and you can't wait to explore many of them.

What's Your Name's Hidden Meaning?

What Lindsey Means

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are balanced, orderly, and organized. You like your ducks in a row.
You are powerful and competent, especially in the workplace.
People can see you as stubborn and headstrong. You definitely have a dominant personality.

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.
You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in.
You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising.
You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care.

Over Christmas some of my cousins were in town and stayed at my house. I have decided that to feel super good about my self and have other people think i'm really funny I need to hang out with them more. I have friends, Karin most notably, who are very witty. I would not consider myself in this category. But when these kids are here everything I say is riotous. I get to use all of my "best stuff", which is not much, on them. Note the following...

10:30 p.m. on a work night after having just seen a movie...

Rachel & Will: "Are you gonna come over and watch Harry Potter with us?"
Me: "Probably not."
R & W: "Why not?" (said in fake whiny voices)
Me: "I have to get up at the butt crack of dawn!"
R & W: laughter... "but crack of dawn! that's awesome!"

a few moments later...

Aunt Donna: "Lindz, are you gonna come over and watch Harry Potter"
Rachel: "No, she has to get up at the butt crack of dawn"
Aunt Donna: EXCUSE ME? (with a very motherly look)
Me: Ummmm....ya I just said that to them...I'm SO sorry!

Note to self: know the age of your audience when saying "funny stuff".

Thanks Karin...

You Should Be a Social Worker

- Have a lot of responsibility- Greatly impact someone's life with your work
